Yey! Big news, my second video course is already available on Udemy! The course is 40$, but here is a discount coupon for you!
15$ COUPON
pring is here, and with this pretty wreath, you will amaze everybody - my personal experience is, even men are appreciating the effort and the beauty of these lovely products! They enjoy the atmosphere, what a crafting woman radiates around herself!

About the course:
I tell in details, what you will need to make this wreath, I provide links, where you can get even the very same yarn, if you like.
I chose items - flowers, leaves and pistils - which are not so obvious.
Picture
We will learn the following tricky items:
  • Puff Flower
  • Hibiscus Flower
  • Irish Lace Rose
  • Corkscrew Spiral
  • Irish Lace Button or Pistil
  • Irish Lace Leaf
We will practice the elements first with a thicker yarn, and than in the second half, we will assemble the wreath together.
Naturally you can use these items on anything, you don't have to make the wreath itself. You can saw them on a hair-clip, on clothes, on a hat, and the list is never ending. And obviously you can combine the element freely, as you wish!
This course was designed for experienced crocheters, so if you have done my Crochet Basics course, and practiced a little, you are good to go. I will explain everything in the ordinary way you are used to by now, also you will find the Pattern Reading explanations after each item, as well as you can download the patterns as PDFs, attached to the Pattern Reading lessons.
I show you one way of assembling, but you can do anything you wish! For collecting ideas, check for example Pinterest, type - crochet wreath.

If you like the course, please leave a review, this is very very valuable for me, and this way you help me to make more courses (more nice reviews - more sale - more chance to put more effort into course making).
Shall you have any question, suggestion, or would like to send me photos of your creations, I am always very happy to hear from you! You can get in touch with me on Udemy, my FB page or via e-mail.
Enroll quickly, and let`s start to crochet today!

Hello!
I am back here again! It has been very busy straight after Xmas, sorry to be silent for so long. A lot is going on, I try to get them all together for you.
Lets see...

Yarn spinning

First of all, I have started a yarn spinning course last year, which is giving so much pleasure! We have learned how to make yarn from the scratch, basically from when they cut the wool off the sheep, how to card it, comb it and finally spin it with a hand spin, or a spinning wheel. This is an ancient technique, and it is wonderful to meet women, passionate about making yarn in the old way.
To spin yarn in the ancient way is a mystic activity, it is clearing the mind, fulfilling the soul, and meanwhile the thoughts are coming and going... and meanwhile getting combed as well.
My tutor, Adrienn, from Ariadné Műhely, based in Budapest, Hungary.

Floral Wreath - New Video Course - Coming Soon!

Then I have started to record my new online video course!!
This time it is for experienced crocheters, but if you have finished my starter course, and practiced a bit since, you will be able to do it.
Anyways, a bit of a challenge won't hurt.
In January the weather was pretty awful, there were some days, when I couldn't go out of the house at all, so I really needed some colours, flowers and spring feeling, so I decided to make a crochet floral wreath as a video course.
And again, I make it in English and in Hungarian, but since I am not a voice actor, I need to record it twice... edit it twice... so this is quite a bit of a work, but I don't want to let my dear Hungarian followers down.

OfCourse - Crochet Basics Video Course in England!

I was contacted by OfCourse.co.uk, a British video course hosting site, that they want my Crochet Basics course on their site. That was a fantastic news, so I didn't hesitate at all, you can find my course there for 49 GBP on the link above.

So these are the major things happened in January, I don't complain at all, the year starts pretty well!
In February I plan to launch the new video course - Floral Wreath - both on Udemy and OfCourse - and of course :) on Webuni - the Hungarian site.

And I can start to plan the next one... What should it be about? I was thinking, to make it about granny squares, and how to make a bag out of them... What do you think?
What would you like to learn about?

Crochet Basics Video Tutorial - coming soon!

This is hell of a ride, and I am enjoying every moment of it!!
It has been only a month since I have started really, and I do not have to go back to the office. Since then I went through a lot of phases, and learned a lot with the trial and error way.
First of all, after I recorded the half of the course, I sent a test video to Udemy, and it was not accepted!!! :D
They complained about the voice, and I had to admit, they were right. It took a week, to fix it. We brought in a lot of stuff into the room, covered the floor with fabrics, but what did the real trick, is to cover the table with a white frottir-like sheet, its surface is uneven enough to brake the sound waves, so it doesn't echo... huh...
Now I could restart the whole production! :)
I also learned, after a day shooting, that I cannot shoot the following day, instead I need to stay home to process the whole days material which takes the entire evening. Next day I watch them carefully, make a plan for the day after, and try to fix all the other duties I have otherwise.
Even so, I have managed to be 85% ready with the recording by now.

Now the next steps are:
  • editing
  • making the opening and closing pictures of the video klips
  • preparing the additional materials such as an infograf about the hooks and yarns, or how to join the granny squares together to make a bag out of them...
  • prepare the list of the lessons in Udemy and Webuni, for the up-load
  • and when all these are set... newsletter. By the way, if you haven't signed up yet, here is the time!! Sign up now here!
Still a lot to do, and a I learn every day, and enjoying this whole thing every day even more!! :)

So, I have made a big decision: I quit my job, and will spend my next three months by doing my Udemy (English) and Webuni (Hungarian) online video tutorial courses, about How to Crochet!
The YouTube films were excercises, and I have learned so much by doing them!

According to this decision, I have started to collect e-mail addresses, for the future newsletters (by the way, If you have not signed up yet, sign up NOW! Click here for the sign up form)

And here is a werk picture of the process of preparing for the big challenge of the Mailchimp site where I am prepearing my very first newsletter!
The deadline for myself to launch the courses is August. Wish me luck ;)

Getting ready for Xmas!

Kasia, my friend corrected my English, and also tried if she can make the Snowflake, based on the book I made. And yes, she managed, so I have uploaded the book into Amazon Kindle store! And I have the first sales within 24 hours! This is just an amazing feeling :) You can buy it by clicking on the red button.
Snowflake e-book
I have also made a short promo film about the e-book, have a look at it!

I would be more than happy if you would send me a photo of your creation, either here, or on my FB page, Crochet Liliom.

Snowflake e-book under process

10/11/2015

After I have launched successfully my first e-book about how to crochet puff flower (you can see it under the e-book menu), immediately I jumped into the next kindle challenge. Kasia, my friend gave the idea, to make a Snowflake. It is not such a surprising idea around November :) but I am so much covered with all the technical and other problems, honestly I was not even thinking about it.
So let it be, snowflake, here we come! Funnily I made it with a pink yarn, to be able to see what I am doing. I bought silver yarn too, but that is impossible to see properly on video, so I will demonstrate with the pink one finally.

The steps of making a "how to crochet something" e-book are:
1. make a video - still hoping to make a Udemy course eventually
2. make screenshots about every important moment - I was cursing badly, I need to learn to stop and pause in these moments... not like now!!
3. make them even by size, put numbers on them - by using Canva (this is an amazing tool!!)
4. write the book, and put the pictures in
5. send to Kasia for proof reading (my dear Kasia volunteered to do so, bless her!)
6. final check, copy & pictures
7. make photos for the cover - I think I will use the silver snowflake for the cover :)
8. make cover in Canva, using the photo I made
9. upload the whole thing onto Amazon, fill out what needed to, and tadamm!

FINISH :)

Now at the moment I am at #3... need to hurry up, Xmas is around the corner!

My book is on Amazon Kindle!!

4/11/2015

I have finished my first kindle e-book about how to crochet a Puff Flower!
In this book I guide the reader through the whole process step-by-step, and while this is not for totally beginners, if the basic stitches are going well, with this guide it will be easy.
I wanted to find a a pattern which is a challenge, hence actually easy to do. I chose finally the puff flower, which caused me some headache back then, trying to figure out, how it is done really. The puff flower is not so easy to figure out at the first look, hence if you know the trick, it is actually pretty simple to make.

The book has 42 photos about every single step, and with every photo, excessive explanation comes along.
The price is: 5.07 $

Paper yarn

20/4/2015

This paper yarn is new at our local yarn shop. I had to try obviously. The paper stripe is thin, smooth and flexible, easy to work with, but pretty strong the same time, and it didnt break, regardless how strongly I pulled it. Actually I didnt try to break it… mistake, I will try how much power is needed to break it – good to know.

I checked Pinterest and Google for samples, and I couldnt find much about it, here are some examples:

It can be used as rafia, but much lighter and nicer to work with it. This is how I succeeded with my first project. I plan to buy one white ball too, to have a larger brim, for a nice stylish female sun hat.
Here is the Sunday mornings result:

Puff and popcorn flower video tutorials

17/4/2015

I am running out of the basic stitches to make video tutorials of, so a bit more advanced crochet techniques are coming: puff and popcorn stitches. Obviously I had to make flowers out of them, and no doubt, the puff flower became the number one winner as my video crew concerns :)

I have made quite a few flowers, and been thinking what to make out of them… until this week my name sister – Mila Emese was born in Denmark, gorgeous daughter of my dear friends, Elvira and Kjeld, so the plan is forming, I need to make a baby blanket out of puff flowers… it will be super cute I am sure :)

The video tutorials will come out, just needs some editing… and yes, still translation to English. Now that is a challenge yet, but should be able to climb this too!!

Green Granny Square Bag

This project is almost finishing, which means I can cut the final video for it. On the first shooting, I was teaching the treble crochet, and this sudden idea popped up, to make an easy granny square - using the just learned technique. This yarn is just amazing, aout of felt, hand dyed, having colours of the deep sea - and those who knows, I am a diving instructor, understands - this is very close to my heart!
The pachwork bad is assembled, now just the final touches are missing: the irich crochet rose, and the handlers. These will come on this Sunday shooting.
I am hesitating to carry on, and to put lining inside... it would be even more fun, but if so, must be later, because new projects are calling!

This is going to be still in Hungarian language, but very soon I am going to do the English translations for all my videos.
So hang in there!

Its spring time, just perfect to make some flowers!! ;)
