Yey! Big news, my second video course is already available on Udemy! The course is 40$, but here is a discount coupon for you!
15$ COUPON
pring is here, and with this pretty wreath, you will amaze everybody - my personal experience is, even men are appreciating the effort and the beauty of these lovely products! They enjoy the atmosphere, what a crafting woman radiates around herself!

About the course:
I tell in details, what you will need to make this wreath, I provide links, where you can get even the very same yarn, if you like.
I chose items - flowers, leaves and pistils - which are not so obvious.
Picture
We will learn the following tricky items:
  • Puff Flower
  • Hibiscus Flower
  • Irish Lace Rose
  • Corkscrew Spiral
  • Irish Lace Button or Pistil
  • Irish Lace Leaf
We will practice the elements first with a thicker yarn, and than in the second half, we will assemble the wreath together.
Naturally you can use these items on anything, you don't have to make the wreath itself. You can saw them on a hair-clip, on clothes, on a hat, and the list is never ending. And obviously you can combine the element freely, as you wish!
This course was designed for experienced crocheters, so if you have done my Crochet Basics course, and practiced a little, you are good to go. I will explain everything in the ordinary way you are used to by now, also you will find the Pattern Reading explanations after each item, as well as you can download the patterns as PDFs, attached to the Pattern Reading lessons.
I show you one way of assembling, but you can do anything you wish! For collecting ideas, check for example Pinterest, type - crochet wreath.

If you like the course, please leave a review, this is very very valuable for me, and this way you help me to make more courses (more nice reviews - more sale - more chance to put more effort into course making).
Shall you have any question, suggestion, or would like to send me photos of your creations, I am always very happy to hear from you! You can get in touch with me on Udemy, my FB page or via e-mail.
Enroll quickly, and let`s start to crochet today!

Why spend money for crochet tutorials?

21/2/2017

I had an interesting conversation the other day with someone on FB. She was in a discussion with a friend of mine, and said, she forgot how to do granny squares, but wants to do them again, and searching for a video tutorial for that.
My friend suggested and tagged me in her response, so from this point, I joined as well.
I gave her a discount coupon for my Crochet Basics course, but she immediately replied, why to spend money, if she can find this information for free?
Fair point. And it made me think.
On one hand, I assume, she knows already how to crochet, was only looking for particularly the granny square - which I have as well on my youtube channel for free, so no need to invest in a  course.
I started to think about, what extra am I giving, which makes it worth to pay for my tutorials?
I know very well, what is available free on the internet, I have spent years and years to search for things, searching for certain things, and if I have found it, still the quality of the video, voice, the position of the camera, the style of the explanation... these are vary in a very big scale, and let's be honest, the majority is not very enjoyable.
Furthermore a great collection of all the needed skill, is really hard to find.
I try to design my courses in a way, they include some special tricks and skills, which also took me years to discover and master.
FSC - Foundation Single Crochet technique for example I only learned some years ago, and I find it really useful!
I will soon release the Floral Wreath course on Udemy, where I collected 6 items - each of them took me a while to find, how to make, and none of them can be figured out easily, just by looking at them. They are very special crochet items - not a surprise, half of the items are coming from irish lace crochet, which technique is fascinating me.
The other thing is, sometimes in the magazines they don't actually tell the entire process in detail. I have seen a lot of Xmas crystal pattern, only they forgot to tell, that you need to starch them - by pinning it onto a hard surface, otherwise they will never look like in the magazines picture. Honestly, they will look awful without starching.
I mean these little - but crucial details. I believe, these articles are made by non-crocheters, they have never made this item, found the nice picture, looked good, asked someone to make a description, and that is it.
I have a book, with lots of basic techniques described, from England. All the items has a diagram, they explain the pattern with abridgments and with the diagram also. I look at the diagram, I try to make it following the instructions, and it looks not nice. I try to do it again and again, finally I come up with a better solution. Because how to go to the next round, can be solved in many ways, (talking about patterns here) but it is matter, actually HOW you are going to do it!
So I keep on doing it, until I find the best solution.
And I provide these knowledge to my students. Everything I teach is tried and tested.
There is a reason why they emphasize in the cooking recipe books or sites, that these recipes are all tested and cooked.
A proficient chef can figure out a meal in their head, like I can come up with new patterns easy. But when I actually do them, turns out, that what I imagined, doesn't work 100% the way I thought it would. And that little matters a lot!
So that is why. I put extra - hard to find patterns and techniques, most of the people never heard of, and I do actually try and test them, and provide a simple demonstration, with the most complicated thing can be done easily.
And my courses are really fairly cheap ;)
I try to edit the Floral Wreath in the next 10 days... so stay tuned ;)
Spring is coming, time to make some fresh beauty into the room!

Hello!
I am back here again! It has been very busy straight after Xmas, sorry to be silent for so long. A lot is going on, I try to get them all together for you.
Lets see...

Yarn spinning

First of all, I have started a yarn spinning course last year, which is giving so much pleasure! We have learned how to make yarn from the scratch, basically from when they cut the wool off the sheep, how to card it, comb it and finally spin it with a hand spin, or a spinning wheel. This is an ancient technique, and it is wonderful to meet women, passionate about making yarn in the old way.
To spin yarn in the ancient way is a mystic activity, it is clearing the mind, fulfilling the soul, and meanwhile the thoughts are coming and going... and meanwhile getting combed as well.
My tutor, Adrienn, from Ariadné Műhely, based in Budapest, Hungary.

Floral Wreath - New Video Course - Coming Soon!

Then I have started to record my new online video course!!
This time it is for experienced crocheters, but if you have finished my starter course, and practiced a bit since, you will be able to do it.
Anyways, a bit of a challenge won't hurt.
In January the weather was pretty awful, there were some days, when I couldn't go out of the house at all, so I really needed some colours, flowers and spring feeling, so I decided to make a crochet floral wreath as a video course.
And again, I make it in English and in Hungarian, but since I am not a voice actor, I need to record it twice... edit it twice... so this is quite a bit of a work, but I don't want to let my dear Hungarian followers down.

OfCourse - Crochet Basics Video Course in England!

I was contacted by OfCourse.co.uk, a British video course hosting site, that they want my Crochet Basics course on their site. That was a fantastic news, so I didn't hesitate at all, you can find my course there for 49 GBP on the link above.

So these are the major things happened in January, I don't complain at all, the year starts pretty well!
In February I plan to launch the new video course - Floral Wreath - both on Udemy and OfCourse - and of course :) on Webuni - the Hungarian site.

And I can start to plan the next one... What should it be about? I was thinking, to make it about granny squares, and how to make a bag out of them... What do you think?
What would you like to learn about?

Wow! What a year!
This year was exciting and pretty productive, to say the least...
I moved apaertment, and finally living in my OWN place, first time in my life!
I have published the Crochet Basics video e-learning course in English and in Hungarian. Right after that I have gone for a video course, followed by a photography one week camp, where I have met super creative and inspiring people.
I have started to make short product videos, and went for a photography course, to build a very strong foundation of knowledge.
I have made a physiotherapy video course for the Mallow Flower Foundation, editing video course on demand, on Monday I will record a video course on demand... Slowly slowly - bit by bit I am buying the essential equipment for DSLR video shooting.
Meanwhile my parents moved down to lake Balaton, and Mici, my dog moved back to me...

Phew, it has been a busy YEAR!
And I am tired. Tuesday I will go to Balaton, to my parents' house, and will get ready to say goodbye to 2016, and prepare for 2017...

The last orders I am finishing right now, this winter the dragon gloves are fantasticly popular ;)

Wish you a Merry Xmas! Relax, eat, drink, and crochet in a cozy armchair. This is what I am going to do as well! ;)
love,
Emi

In this 2,5 hours course I teach all the necessary elements and techniques of crochet. After that we do seven items, which will seem easy, but by the end, you will be able to do quite advanced crochet techniques, without actually realising it ;)

After each item, I show how to read and understand the diagram of the just finished crochet item, so you learn the crochet symbols simultaniously.

I will introduce each item later on, but go and check it out yourself, and if you liked the course, do not forget to leave a nice review ;)

Thank you <3

now I go and celebrate...

Crochet Basics Video Tutorial - coming soon!

19/6/2016

This is hell of a ride, and I am enjoying every moment of it!!
It has been only a month since I have started really, and I do not have to go back to the office. Since then I went through a lot of phases, and learned a lot with the trial and error way.
First of all, after I recorded the half of the course, I sent a test video to Udemy, and it was not accepted!!! :D
They complained about the voice, and I had to admit, they were right. It took a week, to fix it. We brought in a lot of stuff into the room, covered the floor with fabrics, but what did the real trick, is to cover the table with a white frottir-like sheet, its surface is uneven enough to brake the sound waves, so it doesn't echo... huh...
Now I could restart the whole production! :)
I also learned, after a day shooting, that I cannot shoot the following day, instead I need to stay home to process the whole days material which takes the entire evening. Next day I watch them carefully, make a plan for the day after, and try to fix all the other duties I have otherwise.
Even so, I have managed to be 85% ready with the recording by now.

Now the next steps are:
  • editing
  • making the opening and closing pictures of the video klips
  • preparing the additional materials such as an infograf about the hooks and yarns, or how to join the granny squares together to make a bag out of them...
  • prepare the list of the lessons in Udemy and Webuni, for the up-load
  • and when all these are set... newsletter. By the way, if you haven't signed up yet, here is the time!! Sign up now here!
Still a lot to do, and a I learn every day, and enjoying this whole thing every day even more!! :)

So, it started!

So, it started! The studio is set for the video tutorial shootings!
It is the former garage of my friend, transferred to be a proper office room. It is in a quiet part of the city, bright and spacey enough.
I have already shooted for two days. It goes slightly slow, since I do it in English and Hungarian simultaniously.
My plan is to send a test video to Udemy next week, and to finish the whole course by the end of June.
In the meantime I have signed up for a video shooting course with DSLR camera, I am waiting for it to start.
So, exciting times. Will let you know if I reach the next step!

So, I have made a big decision: I quit my job, and will spend my next three months by doing my Udemy (English) and Webuni (Hungarian) online video tutorial courses, about How to Crochet!
The YouTube films were excercises, and I have learned so much by doing them!

According to this decision, I have started to collect e-mail addresses, for the future newsletters (by the way, If you have not signed up yet, sign up NOW! Click here for the sign up form)

And here is a werk picture of the process of preparing for the big challenge of the Mailchimp site where I am prepearing my very first newsletter!
The deadline for myself to launch the courses is August. Wish me luck ;)

Shoes for baby Inanna

Looks like it's baby boom :) Another lovely little lady has born to make this world a better place. Her mom is my friend since childhood, actually we know each-other since we were 14 years old (yeah... it's been a while ago ;)), and our friendship last since. A lot has happened to both of us during these years, but this has only made us stronger.
I don't have children, and cannot have anymore due to a sickness. I have asked myself in the hospital back then right after the operation... what will I do when people are having children around me? How will I react? Will I be jelaous? Will I be ignorant?
And my answer was immedate: no. Life will not stop because this has happened to me. And it shouldt. And if I cannot deal with it, it is only my problem, I just simply lock myself out from a lot of joyful moment.
Like it was today. My friend Eszter asked me to make these shoes for her 4 months old Inanna baby girl, you can see the result.
How do you like them?
